- Why does Windows Installer start when I start Office (Word, Excel.
- Posted by JPUwannabe on April 1st, 2005
I just upgraded from Win 98 to Win XP on an old computer. The upgrade was OK
if VERY slow. XP works fine. I installed Office 2003 as Administrator,
installed recommended upgrades and did a few cosmetic changes to the Office
products. Then I switched to a limited user, also me, which I user for
regular work. When I launch any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.), Windows
Installer tries to start. When I cancel, the Office app launches normally.
FYI: Packard-Bell, Cyrix MX-II (233 mhz), 256 MB RAM, 7 GB HD
