- Analog & Digital running simultaneously?
- Posted by Tyson_Moore on March 21st, 2008
Hi! I really loved watching normal TV on my Media Center. Then, my cable
company (Cogeco in Canada) gave me a DCT700. I have an AverMedia dual-tuner
card, and I was wondering if there was a way that I could set up my digital
box to run on the RCA connections, but have normal (analog) cable on the coax
connection. I managed to get the cable box set up on the RCA, but I have to
stop when it asks me for a second cable box. Any answers or suggestions would
be really appreciated!
Thanks,
~Tyson

Your cable box can only output one program at a time even if it is a dual
tuner PVR STB which can be used to watch one program and record another.
Does your Avermedia dual tuner card have two analog tuners or one analog
tuner and one digital tuner?

In short no. If you have dual analog tuners (even on the same card, the
sources for both tuners must be the same. If you have a set top box for
one, you'll have to have a set top box for the other, as well.
