- MCE & MSI Theater 550
- Posted by Mark Avis on December 31st, 2005
Hello,
I have Media Center 2005 with a MSI Theater550 Tuner Card. I get an
error message saying the Tuner has an error when I try to use MCE to find my
Dish Network. The MSI web site says it needs a third party driver to work
under MCE, but I can not find any further information. I also can not find
any information at MS. Can anyone tell me where I need to go to find the
driver I need? Thank you.
Second, when I try to play a DVD through MCE I get a decoder error. Does
anyone know where I can look to resolve the decoder error? Thank you again.

Sounds like you don't have a DVD decoder installed.
I would highly recommend using a known good DVD decoder for MCE (most dvd
decoders that come with video cards are often out of date and likely have
issues with MCE). Nvidia offers a 30 day trial of their Purevideo decoder.
The latest version is available at this site.

I would also recommend that you install the latest tv tuner driver for your
card. It is available here

Version 6.14.10.102
