I spent the month of December studying HDD DVD-RAM recorders and finally gave
up because the editing sounded too cumbersome and the TV-Guide feature is
filled with bugs. I spent the month of January in mourning because I really
want to go digital with video. I started studying XP MCE today and I'm
very excited about what I have learned so far. I'm thinking of converting my
2nd backup HD to MCE. This would be for Video recording and editing only as I
would boot regular XP for all other uses. I figure the cost of the OS, a
video capture card and some good software that would allow timed recording
and editing would equal the cost of a good HDD DVD recorder ($400) I guess
I'll need to D/L some extra codecs if I build my own box but that's no
problem. I guess I'm looking for recomendations for a TV Tuner card and timed
recording S/W. I have both Broadcast and Direct Sat TV. I would like to do
most of the recording from the Sat and maybe some SVHS transfers to digital
down the road.
