I have tried several times unsucessfully to connect my satellite system to my
media center pc via the s-video input. The problem is that even after finding
the input (displaying correctly in the preview window) once I switch to MyTV
I am stuck with analog channel selection and cannot choose the s-video input
to be displayed.

Do you have the remote receiver and IR blasters connected properly?

If not, you won't get the option...
