- use extender for multimedia and the MCPC for computing simultaniou
- Posted by Donald Guy on November 19th, 2005
Is the following scenario possible?
I have a Media Center PC running XP Media Center Edition 2005 /w the Rollup
2.
I have an Xbox 360 hooked up to my HDTV across the room by component video
and to a surround reciever by an optical connection. The two are connected by
a CAT6 network. (note: i have neither of these things in reality but am
considering buying both)
I want to watch House MD on fox by way of a HD atenneae attached to the
MCPC, but my mom needs to check her email on the MCPC, can i watch the show
by using the 360 as an extender while my mom checks her e-mail on the PC?
Obviously there will be overhead on the pc, but if i am using the extender
is it synced to non-background programs on the PC (i.e. will the monitor on
the PC mirror the action happening on the TV screen) ?
I realize the 360 is not out yet, but i thoght someone who owns a normal
extender (or the Xbox one) might know.
Thanks in advance,
~Donald Guy

Yes, the scenario you describe is very much attainable with the Xbox
360/MCE2005 with UR2 package.
