- Viedo out
- Posted by Chris on December 14th, 2005
Hello everyone;
I have built a media center pc and it is running great. I have a small
problem with video out, DVD quality is great but TV is not so good. Right now
it is connected to a analog d-sub port to a 23 inch Phillips LCD (d-sub is
not great quality). I soon want to connect it to a 27 inch regular TV but I
can not get component out through my video card. That should help thje TV
quality.
I see Sony have a Meda Center that does tv component out.
• Graphics
nVIDIA® GeForce™ 6200 64MB DDR SDRAM dedicated memory (TurboCache™
supporting up to 256MB) x16 PCI Express Graphics
• Video Interface
Output:
HDMIâ„¢ (High Definition Multimedia Interface)
DVI-D (through HDMIâ„¢ to DVI-D adapter)
Component (YPbPr)
Input:
Gold plated Composite and S-Video (Front)
Anyone know how they did this or were to get it? Or any way to do component
out without converting s-viedo? S-viedo is horable.

I would expect you to get much beter quality using Dsub out to an LCD screen
that component out to a standard CRT TV . Since your DVD quality is great
to the LC the difference in quality is due to the difference in quality of
the incoming encoded signal from your TV tuner card and not due to your
graphics card or display device.

Take a look at the entire Sony music CD rootkit debacle as chronicled on
www.FairUseLaw.com and hopefully you'll decide to never do another Sony
purchase again.
For the best picture, use DVI. However, JW is right in that if your DVD
looks great but TV looks poor, it's the tuner's fault...

Thanks Dana for the support.
I though about my post afterwords and realized that I may not be totally
correct. If the DVDs the OP has are film DVDs as compared to video DVD's,
and most likely they are, they are already made with sucessive fields coming
from the same instance in time so that when they are de-interlaced no motion
compensation is required. If the OP notices that his TV quality gets worse
as the amount of motion increases then then his DVD Decoder may be a small
part of his TV PQ issue but still the tuner encoder is the primary part.
