- eCS plans
- Posted by John Poltorak on November 10th, 2003
Since Mr Martin keeps accusing me of being an eCS user, which I'm not, I
thought I would take this opportunity to find out what is the latest
state of play....
I understand that v1.1 came out some time ago, what level of OS/2 does
it use?
What is in store after v1.1?

I have no pipeline into either IBM or Serenity Systems. You might try
doing a Google on Warpstock, or reading down this newsgroup to the post
titled "VOICE Newsletter for November 2003". (This post is, of course,
not really about OS/2, despite the name of the organization which outs
it out, because someone here says it isn't.)
I'm pretty certain that Warpstock isn't really about OS/2, either,
because it is tainted by mentioning eCS. However, I don't remember
being told by someone here that it isn't about OS/2. Mayeb I shouldn't
try to have any opinions about any of this myself, but rather rely on
someone here to tell me whether I'm a real OS/2 user.

Aaron is no different then the other eCS salesmen/investors who continue
to clog up the OS/2 newsgroups with illegal eCS spam. You CAN shut
Aaron down quickly as his newsgroup provider is known to act. Complain

Probably a media refresh to synchronize the English, German and Russian
code bases for 1.1 (mainly just installer tweaks). After that, Bob is
suggesting a next version some time in the middle of 2004, IIRC. And more
NLVs if possible.

Please, in the future, use a little respect for your fellow news

hopefully, remembered to do here, when replying to one of them, or
when discussing the "problem", and filter the FUD4 (you will easily
identify them, when they post), AND the FUD4 subject, to avoid even
seeing their crap. Also, try to refrain from quoting ANYTHING, that
they have to say. That will help to avoid the other problem (news
group noise). Many users really don't care anymore, and doing this,
helps to make this news group usable again.
Also, see:

please post his / her name?
To me, it seems to be too tiring to keep up this charade. His
persistence is definitely the OS/2 guy's strong point. I wonder why
this energy cannot be directed toward something useful?
I use eCS most of the time. I use OS/2 once in a while now. All of my
applications work in both. It is really hard to understand how any
human being with the ability to reason can make a claim that eCS is
anything other than OS/2 with (a few) additions.

Basically 4.52 plus some service.
I'd like to know that myself. I'd like to see some of the available
open software installed automatically, and I'd like to see more of the
installed software on the desktop by default. I'd also like to see all
of the major OS/2 sites included in the bookmarks.
[1] Used to be an IBM point man for OS/2. Very helpful, very

OS/2 community, and deserves better than the crap he's taken
from TM and his claque.

How about we solve the problem of you ecs shills in the OS2 newsgroups by
documenting the public business practices of owners -- and let the IRS
decided if it is a legitimate business? Once its gone -- and it will be

Are you getting the message here colin, or are you still going to play ecs
shill here?
