Missing sound on Ecs v1.2
Posted by Jim Moe on June 21st, 2008

Hello,
A while back I asked about resurrecting sound on an eCS v1.2 system. It
had simply quit working and I can find no reason why.
I have:
- replaced the motherboard
- re-installed the operating system to restore a baseline MMOS2.
- tried a variety of sound drivers
- twiddled various settings in the INI files
all to no avail.
(I have not tried wiping the system disk and re-installing. Rebuilding
the system from scratch is not interesting.)

The sound hardware is functional; the BIOS reports its errors by sound
("The CPU is incorrectly overclocked." "The CPU is overheating and now
will shu--")
The current sound drivers (v1.1.4rc4 uniaud) find and report the hardware.
In SystemSetup::Sound "enable system sounds" is checked.
Why no sound?
