- Nforce 2 Network driver problem
- Posted by Martin Lang on November 11th, 2004
Sorry the previous message was the wrong groupd (Missed the de in
front). So here is the question again.
I upgraded from eCS 1.1 to eCS 1.2 and reinstalled MPTS, which I think
is the original from IBM. I have a nForce2 mainboard and uses the
MyGen32 network driver. I worked fine until I upgraded. After the
upgrade the driver loads, but the laninterface cannot be bound.
ifconfig shows only the loopback interface and ping tells no route.
During driver load the version of May 2003 shows nForce2 NIC. A driver
upgrade to the latest version did not help. On load it now shows 3Com
NIC but the interface still does not bind. Changing paramters in the
protocol.ini did not help.
Any ideas?

Why have you deleted the mpts coming with eCS 1.2?
netbios and netbios over tcp/ip have to be on different logical
adapters on the physical adapter to work correctly.

Because the migration istallation did not work correctly. First I had
some problems with drivers and the reboot failed. After some time the
the migration run through, but the logs mentioned some errors. After
all I got the impression, that formatting the system disk and do a
clean install is easier than trying to fix the log problems manually.
The interface now works again. The problem was that the installer did
not copy the .o file. After I did that manually, it works.
