- Will OS2 ever use HyperThreading?
- Posted by Alex Smariga on November 5th, 2003
I know there was some discussion a while ago about Intel's
HyperThreading and whether OS2 would ever be able to use it. I tried
to generate an SMP kernel (using WSeB with all the fixpaks applied)
and run it on a P4 with hyperthreading enabled but it kept locking up.
I could see that for a short while the cpu monitor showed 2 threads
operational (running 2 cpu crunchers), but it was totally unrelaible
and would lock up very quickly.
Any ideas on what might need to happen to allow this capability?

Wow. Now if you'd just run regular old Warp Server Advanced w/SMP
feature you'd have seen two threads running but it *wouldn't* have
locked up !
Why would you *want* to ? OS/2 already has threading. This "hyper-
threading" thing is aptly named.
phooey on hype threading. We already get enough of that ...
