- 3Com OfficeConnect Remote 810 ..reset procedure
- Posted by Gordon on September 6th, 2004
Bought a 3Com OfficeConnect Remote 810 ADSL router as a surplus item. It
seems to boot up OK but when it reached the "Password" request it won't
respond to the default !root input. Looks like the previous user has changed
it.
Anyone know how to do a factory style reset so that I can get the device
working correctly??
many thanks in advance....
Gordon

Clutching at straws here, but a post elsewhere on the net says...

Blatently stolen from 3com.com. For Office Connect 812 (prob what
superseeded the 810)
1. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and then press in and hold the Reset
button.
2. Whilst holding in the reset button, unplug the power from the back of
the Router and then plug it back in, keeping the Reset button depressed.
Whilst the reset is being performed, the Alert LED on the unit will flash
amber first, then green and finally it should remain OUT once the restart
is complete. To verify a successful reset, any previous configuration
should have been erased.
NB: If the Alert LED flashes continuously or remains any other colour,
then you should try the reset procedure again. After a couple of attempts
if you are still having the same problem this may suggest faulty hardware
and you should contact 3Com Technical support.
3. Alternatively, you can use the Restart/Restore Section in the Advanced
Menu of the Office Connect Remote 612/812

Once you've reset it plug it into the network and set your IP address to
be automatically assigned. Goto a command prompt and type ipconfig
/release then ipconfig /renew this will make sure that your PC requests
an IP address from any DHCP servers on your network. (Hopefully your
router)
