On their dialup I remember hearing it was all routed through their US
servers (for tax purposes?), so I should think pings would've been >
300ms , and I think I remember hearing the same would be done with their
broadband, so I'd avoid it. Even if they don't, there's cheaper and
better broadband ISPs.

Well I was using AOL dial-up and the pings were the best I ever had with any
dial-up provider..
To original poster:- Make sure you use an external modem, I found this a god
send when I was stuck on 56k..

Really Andrew, they were the best I ever had, I was getting about 100-120
which as you may agree is good for dial-up..
Also another thing I liked is I never got booted off whilst playing a game
(no 2hr kick off)

pings to jolt were 180 so best avoid..
I`m surprised though, as I said, Dial-Up was perfect for me..
