- Broadband reviews/comparison

Anyone know of a *good* site for comparing UK Broadband ISPs? The ones I
have found by Googling only have a few or are biased.
Ideally looking for an independent site with customer comments. My
brother-in-law is going with Supanet 1Mb, but I believe some of you have
issues with them as well as Tesco.
Am I correct in saying that all the sub-£20 packages are kak?

no.
F2S, Demon, Zen, Metronet etc all can cost less than £20 and are fine.

No but their margins are so small that something has to go. Customer
service for example.

McPhail:
NO.
PlusNet has recently won awards as best customer ISP and another for best
customer service, they even reply to posts on uk.telecom.broadband !
Their prices are as good as you going to find: £14.99 for 1Mb/s with
1Gb/month included, £2 for next Gb or slightly less if you pre pay.
It is effectively unlimited, but you pay for what you use in excess of the
1Gb/m, it's fine for most people who don't download loads of music, movies
or warez.
If you decide to go with them please use my 'jerryw' id as a referrer, it
will save me 25p, thanks,

Martin

I'm using Wanadoo 1Mbit @ £17.99pm,no problems.
Free modem, free setup and I kept my existing email
addess.It does have a 2GB download limit,but as yet
they are not monitoring download usage.Only thing I
had to pay extra for was a filter. They send 2 with the
package,but I needed 3.The extra one cost me £9.99.
Oh,and unlike BT you also get POP3 email.

Not necessarily kak but usually restricted in some way, i.e download cap.
I would head off to http://bbs.adslguide.org and look at the ISP
specific forums and see what you think.
Once you've done that, I'd guess Supanet and Tesco will probably be out
the equation, so maybe look at Zen, Metronet, Pipex, Plusnet, Eclipse.
IMHO the main things to watch out for are download caps, and annual
contracts with disconnection charges.
FWIW I'm with Zen, they aren't the cheapest but they're very good. If I
were choosing I'd probably look at Metronet first, and, if usage would
be light Eclipse on their £14.99 2mbps PAYG.
cheers,
