- BT Wholesale Service Information??
- Posted by Alan Cole on November 20th, 2004
I've been having trouble browsing the web the past few days, I keep
internmittently getting redirected to a 'BT Whole sale pages that says:
'You have been connected to this page due to one of the following
reasons. You must now shut down your browser and Internet applications
before attempting to reconnect.
1. The BTWholesale access circuit to your Service Provider is
currently down.
Your service should be resumed soon.
Or
2. You are testing your local connection to BT using
bt_test_user@startup_domainč
Or
3. You are testing your connection to your Service Provider using
bt_test_user@domainč where domain is your Service Provider domain name.
Or
4. Your Service Provider is currently unable to accept your
connection request please wait until service is restored or contact your
Service Provider for further information.
Or
5. You have attempted to access an invalid Service Provider domain.
'
The address of the page is: http://194.74.65.98/
who do I need to contact to get it sorted? Is it a BT problem or one
with my ISP (Plusnet).
Al.

Speak to Plusnet. Hopefully they can fix this quickly with the tools BT
provide, if its the problem I'm thinking of.

the latter, broadband is always an ISP problem never a BT problem, if
its a BT fault its between them and the ISP not between them and you.
It happens sometimes that an ISP's pipe goes down and your PC
remembers the IP address it gets diverted to (that wholesale page)
while its down, to clear this look up "flush DNS" for your operating
system for example XP is ipconfig /flushdns then reboot

Hi there,
I have read reports about this across the net today not specifically
with our customers. I would recommend firstly logging in with the
bt_test@startup_domain with the password of test.
Leave this for about 15 minutes, then try your username and password
again.
You can also try specifying DNS as it can also be caused by picking up
BT's tertiary DNS (which is purely for testing). Try specifying
212.159.6.9 & 212.159.6.10
kind regards

Thanks Luke... and everyone else. Plusnet told me to login with the
bt_test username as well.... Which I did, I then had some problems
getting my router to work (it wouldn't switch on for some reason), so I
left it all off, had a cup of tea, went kitesurfing and then windsurfing
(yep, it was cold!) and when i got back and switched it all on again
(and pressed the reset button on the router) it seemed to be working....
Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Thanks Again.
