BTYahoo - what a disaster - problems galore

Any recommendations for a decent ISP that is likely to remain stable
for the next 5 or 10 years.

The BTOpenworld to BT-Yahoo merger has been a disaster, beset by
technical problems, and lack of information and sheer incompetence.

1) AOL randomly bouncing BT email with message ISP:B2) AOL is not
currently accepting email from your point of origin through your ISP.
Please contact your ISP's TecH1\325 al...

2) Passwords on old BTOpenworld accounts did not migrate across if
passwords longer than N characters. No possibility of accessing or
altering the passwords.

3) Calls to BT to sort out their problems/ locate lost mail cost
50p/minute.

4) Mail servers inaccessible on a random basis.

5) Huge anxieties about lost mail

6) Big increase in spam on previously spam-free email addresses

7) No guarantees about the continued availability of previous
BTOIpenworld websites. New users have access to Geocity webspace which
is will have user-uncontrolled adverts, and also exposes the webowners
email address to the whole world - yet more spam.

8) Have emailed BTYahoo several times about problems and others have
emailed about emails are being bounced back by AOL. No courtesy of a
reply but there is alsoways that premium rate phone line if you wnat
to shout at a random incompetent with no authority or ability to deal
with anything at all.

9) Yahoo! services will use (and make available publicly in your on
line profile) your full email address!!!!!!!! Full BT-Yahoo identity
displayed and logged by the BT-Yahoo services such as Launch music
player, or Games?

10) and yet again ----- lost email

11) General difficullty deleting trapped spam from the webmail servers
- if possible to log on at all. Not clear that real mail is not lost
if spam store exceeds a certain size.

Which BT tel. no. is premium rate?
We are talking the broadband number aren't we? thats a national rate number.

I log to webmail in seconds, spamguard aint bad (a few false positives for
the 1st week then ok) and its trainable.
No-one with any sense installs the yahoo browser.
I dont have a profile that I'm aware of.
Geocities can take a running jump.
I've seen the statement re. the present BT webspace. 'currently no plans to
phase it out for existing...etc..'
AOL seem to have blocked a segment of addresses in the BT range. Selfishly
since my mailwasher is set to discard anything with AOL in the 'from'
address, this wouldn't be something I'd complain about.

I`ve got three accounts I am now unable to access

Sod that for a game of soldiers :-p

Mainly inaccessible from what i`ve seen

Thankfully the majority of mail from the two non-working accounts will be
pure spam, so i`m not likely to miss much... still a pain in the ass
trying to remember which site subscriptions used which address and
getting them all altered...

The concept of webmail is a non-starter for me. I get over 200+ spam
mails per day to one account, and it often arrives faster than I can skip
through deleting it - and I use mailwasher !

pierre..dots..danon@btinternet..dots..com might be in for some stick off
me soon (he`s a director at BT)

replace the ..dots.. with a .

Pierre isnt incharge of btopenworld though. The person with that *cough*
"responsibility" is Duncan Ingram (duncan.ingram@bt.com). Anyone who
wishes to complain to Mr Ingram's "team" personally, should write to:

Complaints to any director will usually get a response though, going from
past experience, and Pierres` was the only address I knew for sure.

Surely M. Danon's email address is pierre.danon@bt.com not
btinternet.com.
His email accounts are screened by 2 personal assistants and he will
only get to see about 1% of all mails sent to him, everything else
will be actioned pp by them
