- Bulldog - Executive Office Contact Details?
- Posted by Fred Finisterre on July 20th, 2005
Hi,
I'm am getting a laughably bad response from Bulldog on a fault I have
reported to them via email (I'm not mad enough to try calling them, so have
been doing it via email).
In response to my first email, they asked me to provide further info - which
if they had bothered to read my email properly, they would have found was
included in my email.
When I replied pointing this out to them, they told me it was imperative I
spoke to one of their first line support team.
My problem is simply that I cannot call a certain 0845 number from by
Bulldog line (a number which used to work fine on my BT line, and works fine
from my mobile).
I fail to see why they need me to talk to them, on the phone, when I have
already given them all the information they require to diagnose/resolve the
fault.
As such, I would like to write to their head honcho - does anybody know who
that may be, and their contact details?
Thanks,
Fred.

Let's see.
If I go to the bottom of
http://www.bulldogbroadband.com/gene...f_practice.asp, I can see an
email address for one of their employees, so it could be just a matter of
using the same format and adding @bullogdsl.com...

I obtained the following information from www.companieshouse.gov.uk -
such information is publicly available, so I've decided to post all the
information here, to do with as you please. Do be careful about who you
contact and how though - as I think matters are complicated by the fact
the Bulldog was bought by Cable & Wireless, which is perhaps why
Emanuel is not on this list.

I do not think it's right for you to give out such private details to
anyone. As I've stated above, the personal addresses of those
responsible for the company are publicly available, and are sufficient
to contact them. I think anyone who gives out private information could
be rightfully sued by those to whom the details pertain.

Stefan, what a completely pointless exercise, the people you list will have
absolutely no contact with the people to help him. They are so many layers
of management beyond those he needs to speak to that it is not going to help
at all, just make you feel all clever and smug that you can access a public
database. Woopie doo. You pitched at entirely the wrong level trying to be
smart. Marcos is right about potential legal action.
As for your problem Fred, if they need to speak to you instead of via
e-mail, and gave you a number to ring to contact direct and you wont call
it, why get all uppity? They have told you how contact them and who to speak
to in order to solve the problem but you wont do it....why is that their
fault? Just because you dont see why you should phone them? Probably Data
Protection means they need to positively identify you direct instead of god
knows who it might be on e-mail. Maybe they need to talk through the
solution whilst you are online to get the thing fixed. Whatever the reason
behind needing to talk direct, it is down to you. Call them from a different
phone but dont get funny because you have to, just do it. Thats the
solution, not trying to get to the top man, he will just say the same, you
got the number, make the call.

The more the better so that those below will get dropped on from a great
height.
Why get so clueless? Why should he phone them when there's email?
Because they should answer emails.
What absolute rubbish! Then NO company would email their customers, duh.
Shows you've never worked at the top. If upper management care about the
company, they will do something from a dizzy height to those below, as they
probably deserve.
Don't ever get a job in customer services, or upper management.

OK. To be fair, maybe I will try calling them. The reason I have been
reluctant to do so is because I'm told its impossible to get through, and
that they just hang up on you.
My original email to them was along the lines of "Dear Bulldog, I can't call
0845 xxx xxxx (I gave the full number) from my Bulldog line (I get the
message "The number you have dialled is not in service"), but I can call it
from my mobile, and I used to be able to call it from my BT line with no
problems."
There reply to me was "Have you tried calling the number from a different
phone to ensure the line is still in use? If so, please email back with the
problem number."
As you can imagine, I was a little galled at this reply.
So, I replied to them politely, saying "The information you have asked is
included in my original email (see below)".
Their reply "Please call first-line support...yadda yadda yadda".
As I've said, I will try calling them, although it does peeve me that I
should have to, when I've given them everything they need to go on. I would
bet large wads of money that the problem is due to the 0845 number belonging
to a telco that Bulldog refuses to play ball with for some reason. I am 99%
sure Bulldog could have tested this from one of their own lines, and
reproduced the problem. Avoiding the need for me to spend hours trying to
get through to them.
In their favour, I will say they have responded to both my emails - albeit
after approx. 10 days in each case.
I'll let you know how I get on (if you care :-) )
Cheers,
Fred.

Which is why your bank sends you mail (*)? I don't think so. The ones I
use all put messages to you online and only available to you after you've
succeeded in getting logged in via their various degrees of security. An
e-mail might be sent to simply alert you to the fact there's something on
their website as a 'new message' for you to read. So they don't get into
customer account aspects unless they have done their best to verify your
identity based on information you should keep private.
It might be deemed excessive for a query about dialling an 0845 but there
may be a committment to handling customer enquiries in a standard way and
one where there's perhaps a recording ("for training purposes") of any or
all interaction with customers.
(*) Mail to discuss details of your account, or answering queries.

But how could you know such alerts were from your bank/finacial institution?
This is how all Phishing is done & I have lost count with the number of
times I have heard via the media(radio, tv & even on line) that they do not
send email to their customers..

I was more interested in making sure Fred got better advice to help solve
his problem. Others taking the time to write in with sensible comments have
the same aim. The Director level within the company will have nothing to do
with customer support management or day to day operational matters, thinking
so only shows your own lack of knowledge of the way multi-national companies
work and illustrates how little you understand corporate life. As for the
opinions and career advice, get back to me when you've taken your GCSE's.
Now, back to your gameboy little one and try hard to grow into something
better. Hope you get it sorted Fred.

The Director level within the company will have nothing to do
I've had experience with Orange (as have lots of other people) whereby if
you escalate the problem to the executive office, it actually sorts it out.
Whcih was why i thought it might be worth a go.
Cheers,
Fred.

To get Freds problem sorted as soon as possible he needed to contact the
right people, not wait for the thing to filter down over time because you
suggested writing to entirely the wrong set of people. Do you think the Huff
brothers would help you get through to ntl customer services if you wrote to
them? This chain of postings had its benefits though, an ntl customer
pontificating on another companies customer service issues just made my day,
so thanks for the laugh.
