Which cable I have to use between Router and PC(straight or cross over)?

Which cable I have to use between Router and PC(straight or cross
over)?. How can I findout which type of cable needed?.

1) Router to PC directly
2) Router to switch
3) Switch to PC

Is it possible to communicate two PC's directly connecting ethernets
(Linux PC)?. Also If I connect two PC's directly over serial port
(RS-232), can I communicate?. Thanks.

Yes use a crossover cable, but don't get it mixed up with the others!
Should work straight off.

Yes use a serial cross over cable (sometimes called a null modem), but you
are going to have to mess about.
