Hmm

Gotta love NTL eh?

Saturday night all cable modem service drops. Ah well... I'm only paying
25 quid/month, so I expect some outages. Go do something else.

Next day - want to use the net - no access. Try another computer... no
joy. Look at cable modem. Hmm. Cable light it blinking. Modem can't get
a connection.

Call the 0845 number... 45 minutes - Hello... Hello... I can't hear
you... click. They hung up on me. Guess someone needed to improve his
call stats...

Call again... but try answering WinXP just for a change to see if the
queue is any shorter. Nope. 20 mins to get through to 'this is the virus
line... hang on and I'll connect you with the technical line'... Another
45 minutes and I get connected. I should have known better.

I hand over my address & MAC address. Chap puts me on hold.

"I'm sorry sir, but your cable modem address has been deleted from the
system. We've been doing some transition work and it might have been
deleted by accident."

"Can you put it back?"

"I could, but then again, your service could have been removed for a
reason"

"What reason?"

"I don't know... you'll have to call customer services to ask them. I
don't have access to their system."

"Can you put me through?"

"No. They are closed on Sundays. You'll have to call on Monday"

Aaaagh!

Any suggestions? (Other than wait till monday?)

Oh Dear !

I've seen a few cases like yours in various newsgroups. Your ISP has
mistakenly removed your service, but don't expect that they can restore it
as easily as they removed it.
I wouldn't be too surprised if you don't have to go through the whole
rigmarole of applying for a new connection and waiting several weeks for it
to be installed, even though the disconnection was made by mistake.

Bad news I fear.

Bad news I think.

I have seen several articles with similar problems, it seems your ISP have
easily enough deleted your account by mistake, but the account can't be
restored in the same way.

You will probably have to re register and wait several weeks to be connect
again, even though none of this has been your fault.
