Hi,
I would much appreciate any information / guidance from anyone able to
advise if it is acceptable / okay (in terms of not damaging the equipment)
to operate a combined wired / wireless router without its aerial connected?
(This would be on the assumption of only disconnecting / connecting the
aerial when the unit is powered off). I know that in some instances of radio
theory / equipment / technology a dummy load is usually advised to be
connected in place of an aerial if a device is to be used without the / an
aerial connected. Note: the question is intended to relate to 802.x type
WLAN equipment (e.g. your standard 802.11x type wireless broadband
cable/ADSL router or Access Point). Note: also, that the question is
specific (e.g. / i.e. I am aware that often the wireless functionality of
such devices can be turned on and off through management interfaces / etc. -
however this query relates to / about the scenario mentioned above where
this is not necessary / possible / permissible / an option / etc. [!] - i.e.
/ e.g. this query relates specifically to the above question about operation
without an aerial connected!).
I look forwarded to any responses / any responses are very much appreciated.
Best wishes,
