- confused & frustrated

Hello
I want to go to broadband but am confused but all the complex 'offers' by
the major providers. I don't want anything clever, I don't want inclusive
mobile phone, landline, satellite, electricity & gas packages. I just want a
broadband connection.
I would prefer to stay with my current dial-up ISP (Orange) as I won't have
to change my email address. Whenever I contact their website I get bombarded
by their special offers with clever modems that can play games on Xbox !.
This is not what I want.
If I buy a modem from PC World will I be able to set it up OK & sign up to
an Orange broadband account ?
Thanks
K

As long as your Orange account credentials work with an Orange
dialup PAYG, you will not lose your Orange email addresses
when you leave Orange.
They will work with any ISP as long
as you keep your pop3 server pointing at Orange and your
SMTP server pointing at your new ISP
I have some Freeserve addresses (the forerunner of Orange and Wanadoo)
that are getting on for 10 years old and work on every ISP I have
tried, currently Tiscali.
You have to go to the Orange website and click "revive account"
every 3 months to keep it alive.
I always warn people not to get established with an email
address that is tied to a given ISP.

just go to the Orange web site and order an upgrade to broadband. They
have a £14.99 "up to 2M" and a £19.99 "up to 8M" account both with a
three month reduced price at the moment. 12 month contract.
why bother when they send you a free one that they understand and can
support.
