- Constantly having to refresh web pages to get them to load on wireless network
- Posted by David on September 27th, 2003
Hi
I have recently installed a D-Link DI-614+ rev b. I have one pc connected
into one of the four RJ45 ports and one laptop running on the wireless
connection. The hard wired pc is running perfectly with no issues. The pc
running on the wireless is having browsing problems. When I open IE it
takes
an age to connect often timing out for five or six attempts before it
connects. If I run a ping to the primary DNS server while this is happening
all pings are answered fine but the pages still won't load. The settings
are
all at default obtaining an IP address by DHCP. 4x is off on the router.
I also have a laptop running XP and with the same settings it is running
with no problems. This makes me suspect I am missing something in the setup
of Windows 2000 as everything else is running fine on the router with no re
boots or issues on other pc's.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
David.

same thing.
Make sure the MTU is the same on all the machines, e.g about 1458 I think is
normal. I don't understand why this affects web browsing, unless the server
thinks you machine can handle 1500 byte packets whilst BT's adsl cannot?
Get DrTCP fromone of the dsl sites if you don't have another way of changing
it.
