Contacting BT re billing
Posted by Pip on October 28th, 2006

Is anyone able to give me the direct no. of that section of BT which deals
with queries re domestic broadband billing? I am not commercial neither do I
get my home telephone service from BT.

I have been unable to find any reference on any of the paper bills that I
have received. There is no information on the e-billing site.

Otherwise it seems a matter of a great deal of patience of going through
endless sub-menus, and when eventually one gets to speak to a real person,
the inevitable result is that you are told that you are being passed on to
some one else - and then silence.

The impression that I am left with is that BT don't want their customers
actually to speak with anyone in the UK who can resolve problems re billing.

deciding whether you are one or not. If you are then use the website and
they will reply. If you're not then they will not discuss a non existant
account.

Of course, I am a BB customer but not a phone customer.

My last experience of being given the run-around was only on Friday when I
ended up - eventually - in India when I was told that the agent could not
help me but she would pass me on to some one else. Then nothing.

This is but one of many attempts to speak with some one who can deal other
than simple enquiries.

.....if you are using the phone you are calling about, press 1

......ad infinitum, ad nauseum. I hate BT's recorded options. Life is
simply too short.

What do you mean?
Do you have "BT broadband" - if your ISP and your ADSL come from the
same (other) company, then BT won't talk to you about broadband, as it's
not their responsability.

I was hoping for sensible comments or advice. Not from some one seeking to
massage his own ego by pretending to be superior.

If you are able to answer the direct question, I should be grateful to hear
from you. Otherwise, if you cannot, you should be aware that by assuming a
superiority that does not exists, tells the world more about you than you
perhaps realise.

I have a genuine problem with BT. I am being charged a considerable sum for
equipment that I never ordered but which has been sent me in error, and
which I have returned in BT's own return envelopes.

I have phoned. I have written detailed letters. All have been ignored.

Perhaps now you may realise that your facile comments are not particularly
welcome.

Thanks for that. A sensible answer for a change. It is greatly appreciated.

Dial 150 , Listen to the Options then press 9
By the sound of things you have what is known as an EOI (Equipment Only
Installation)

Unfortunately, your question was not clear as to why you wanted to
contact BT billing.
Quite a few people have misconceptions about how ADSL billing works, for
example, and if your telephone service is not with BT, you would have
few reasons to contact them directly.

And if you had said this initially, I would not have asked the
questions I did.

There should be on the back of whatever bill you have been sent a
procedure to follow if you intend to dispute it.

If you have no service with BT, I would suggest you follow this, and
then explain your position in writing several times (recorded) to the
appropriate address (usually also on the bill) with any information you
have that may back up your claim, with the note that you are completely
willing to see them in court.
