I am currently on NTL BB 512K, but looking at ADSL, why the Contention ratio
with ADSL, does it matter???? Why should 50:1 be cheaper than 20:1??

All broadband services (including NTL's) have a contention ratio.

In practice with ADSL, it doesn't make any practical difference at the
moment though in the future its "possible" it might

50:1 would be cheaper than 20:1 as in theory the ISP's can provide less
bandwidth for the same number of users.
