- DG834G - am I interleaved?
- Posted by Gareth on November 12th, 2006
Can someone help in interpreting these figures produced by a Netgear DG834G?
The figures should tell me whether or not interleaving is on (I think it
is):
[Upstream (TX) Interleave path]
CRC: 194 FEC: 18564 NCD: 0
LCD: 0 HEC: 2380
[Downstream (RX) Interleave path]
CRC: 2975 FEC: 10103036 NCD: 0
LCD: 0 HEC: 0
[Upstream (TX) Fast path]
CRC: 0 FEC: 0 NCD: 1
LCD: 0 HEC: 0
[Downstream (RX) Fast path]
CRC: 0 FEC: 0 NCD: 0
LCD: 0 HEC: 0

looks as if you are interleaved. Do Pusnet not have a page where you can
check your connection stats?

How did you get these stats from a DG834G? I've not found a web page on my
DG834GT (presumably very similar) which gives interleave stats - just the
one which gives up/down speed, attentuation and noise margin.

You have to use the telnet command line. There's a page about it,
somewhere on the interweb. Maybe google for 'dg834G telnet debug' or
look for the page on wikipedia, where there are some good links.
I went through this process some months ago, and couldn't work out what
it meant either - I *think* the '1' indicates Fast mode, but I'm not
sure.

Note that this overwrites the router's log file with the modem stats file
( cat /proc/avalanche/*modem* > /var/log/messages ) by exploiting
an injection vulnerability and opens the log in the browser.
It won't always work on the first click.
