Freeserve BB on a "Carrier Pre-Selection" phone line - any experiences ???
Posted by on November 25th, 2003

talk about left and right hand each not knowing
what the other is doing...

on ordering Freeserve BB...
I find that someone else in the house has signed up for
"Carrier Pre-Selection" - using "One.Tel Select"

Line rental is still payable to BT, so it *remains* a BT line.
However all calls made are to be transferred to -
and billed by - One.Tel, but with the option of
having them carried by BT if a prefix code is dialed.

"...you can still choose for BT to carry a call,
by dialing 1280 in front of the number
you are calling..."

One.Tel assures me that this arrangement
will *not* affect BB...

can anyone comment from a position of
experience of either this or a similar arrangement

thanks in advance

Onetel are right - CPS and ADSL will work together.

If you have switched to the basic BT line tariff don't forget to use 1280
for some calls (the ones more expensive on onetel) to take advantage of the
BT call allowance which comes bundled with this BT tariff.

Anyone know if CPS can be used on an 'incoming calls only' line ???

I know it isn't meant to be in theory, just wondered if it has been in
practice?

I assume you mean ADSL on such a line, and think it is one of many of
BT's exclusions. After all, that'd let you have two-way voice over
the internet!

Why would you want cps on an 'incoming calls only' line? Surely cps
only affects outgoing calls..........incoming calls are paid for by
the caller !!!!!!
