Freeserve Broadband Problem
Posted by Ian on October 10th, 2003

After installing software and connected modem with filter directly on the
wall socket as detailed in their booklet, the green ADSL light continues to
flash. Phoned up Freeserve and they confirmed my line was activated 4 days
ago. Checked everything ok including filters on every socket in the house.
Would appreciate any help.

I had a similar experience when first getting upgrade to BB with BTOW,
although I could occasionally connect.

It turned out to be a line fault, but it took about 2 weeks to eventually
get an ADSL engineer out to sort things out.--- He connected me to a nice
new underground cable and it's been fine since.

The phone line worked OK, but the ADSL was irregular, finally going off
totally.

It seems that the ISPs and BT will only send out someone who knows what to
do with ADSL faults as a last resort, in the meanwhile, they waste customers
time & feed them a string of false solutions.

Read about it on ADSLguide here.
