- hosting - anyone know about www.streamlinenet.co.uk ?

Just asking on behalf of a youngster looking to spend quite a bit of
pocket money on a web host - in their words, "I will need PHP and
other scripting - PHP 4.1"
They appear to offer what sounds like a decent deal here for unlimited
hosting, but although it says it offers PHP etc, there is nothing
specific to say they have something akin to fantastico to make
installation of stuff like php-nuke (they`re on dialup, so having to
upload and configure full packages from scratch would be a real pain
to accomplish !)
http://www.streamlinenet.co.uk/uu.php (£45 per year)
Comments welcomed :-)

More appropriate for uk.net.providers, alt.internet.providers.uk
(the former being the one I'd suggest, but from the appearance
of follow-ups in this group it seems some hosting firms scan
groups for potential customers, like ambulance chasers !!)

dialup is then much less of an issue as installations don't need to go
up/down the dialup. In fact you don't need to upload anything as you
can develop the code on line as well if you want although that may
cost as much in on-line time so it may well be worth developing off
line.
There seem to be more shell login accounts available now than there
were a couple of years ago and, if you look around, some are very
reasonably priced (though some are not!).

Christ, they`re cheap... a little slow on data transfer, but for that
price...

The kid who was looking for the hosting has already signed up with
someone now I believe (streamlinenet) - although its always worthwhile
knowing who`s offering good deals (I don`t mind you getting a referral
out of it, you could always post the info here !)
1TB of bandwidth... LOL <drool>

Ah well, I guess the e-mail I sent yesterday about the 1 year free
deal won't be needed... He might have kicked himself for going on
to sign up so fast, unless he didn't know you were doing some work
to check for hosting, on his behalf. Best wishes, Peter M.
