- how to check lines on sites you don't own.

Anyone know how I would get round this.
We are just about to buy a new commercial property and I have checked
with bt's adsl postcode checker that it can get adsl (which it shows
that it can), but if the line was fibre instead of copper would it show
that on the postcode checker and then fail or does the postcode checker
just make sure that you are in range of the exchange.
I can't give a phone number to check as the property has been vacant for
some time.

Speak to BT and pretend you are ordering a new line, they will tell you if
there has previously been a telephone installation at that address. Use that
number to do your checking. Dont know however if the tel number check takes
fibre in the ground into account.

My line shows as 'you may be able.... etc.' even though it is TPON - so don't trust the checker 100%.
