- How do they work out the line check details?
- Posted by Gareth Jones on December 31st, 2003
Hi Folks,
Previously, when I used the ADSL line check utility, my number returned
Red,Amber as also did a few of my neighbours as I'd expect being just
over the 5Km mark
I applied for ADSL, got rejected, but was still on a DACS, have now got
them to take me off this, rechecked the database before re-trying (just
in case) and my status has changed to Red,Red - not good. But before I
finally give up the quest for ADSL, I've re-checked my neighbours and
also any other numbers I can find in my village and I get one other
Red,Red, but still a load of Red,Amber and even Amber,Amber from houses
that I can see from my window and are all connected via the same trunk
to the exchange.
So I guess my question is, when and how does the checker database get
updated? Is it on a per line basis, or when one check is done, do they
update a group of numbers?

Can't quite remember where it is.... Want to send me a PM?
Otherwise, use the BT broadband checker, then view the HTML source code.
Down the bottom somewhere, along a line of code it'll say something like
'result code=RAEZ'
Do a google on this group for more info.

Haven't downloaded it, but that appears to be version 1.1
There is an updated version at http://www.jbod.net/adslchk.exe (version 2.1)
(If you get a problem with missing .ocx files you need to download and run:
http://www.jbod.net/missingfilesetup.exe)

So when you get back to V1.1 , just think, you might eventually get to a
position where you have to post a question something like this :
(don't you just hate it when your post gets hijacked ;-)
