On your work PC browse to www.whatismyipaddress.com
This will reveal your WAN IP address, but connecting real VNC will
involve port forwarding through your company's firewall.

It might not help, learning your work PC's IP (if it is one on a LAN, it
will only have a LAN address, and you cannot connect direct to it). If
there is a router (to allow many PCs to connect) then it needs changes
to be made on that router. Ask whoever is responsible for the router
to allow access. There might be reasons the firm would not want you
to connect from outside, so it could put your job on the line.
If you are using dial-up, you might be very disappointed using VNC to
do anything over the link. Sorry if this sounds very negative.

Hi Guys
IP addresses in the range 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.255.254 are 'internal'
address, usually assigned by the DHCP server in your router.
To see the IP address that your router is using (the internet facing side),
you need to look at the router configuration (usually a web page generated
by your router).
Look at the instructions for your router to find out how to access this.

David

Not, as I said, that I use any addresses in that range, even internally.

Arguably not.
They are one of the block of addresses reserved for the loopback device,
not your computers IPv4/6 network address.
My computer sometimes has hundreds of addresses by which it can be
reached on an IP network - usually only one though :-)
