- how many can connect to a wireless router

If I install a wireless modem/router how many PCs can connect?
If I connect say 6 then will there be any slowdown ? - (apart from the
fact they'd all be sharing one internet connection)
TIA

Nope.
Should work just fine.
If you're sharing files between them wirelessly, then this may slow
things down.

Depends on the model - 32 is a reasonable figure to expect.
Yes there will probably be a slow down if they are all doing stuff at the
same time.
Wired Ethernet (especially through a switch insted of a hub) is much more
efficient that wireless.
Every device connected to the wireless AP will have to wait its turn; the
system also runs at half duplex instead of full duplex for wired Ethernet.
If you are using a 512k ADSL line then you should still probably be able to
drive it flat out, but any networking between your 6 PCs will be quite slow.
Response time is also likely to be slower if you are all browsing at the
same time.
