ISP Suggestions...

I'm with Plusnet and extremely happy as it fits my requirements very
well. My mum is looking at getting broadband, and her requriements are
different, and Plusnet's current pricing does not cut it.

She is a "low use" user, currently on a 56k 1p/min dialup. Am looking
for a ISP that has a capped package (1Gb/month is likely yo be more than
ample), a low monthly fee, and setup (and preferably modem, but not
essential, and ebay is littered with them).

The only thing aginst the 14.99 Plusnet 1Mb/1GB package, is the £58
setup fee. Aside from that it would be ideal.

Anyone know anything that fits the bill?

Pipex? 15.99/month for uncapped 150k. Free modem and setup if she stays for
12 months. Probably one of the cheapest TCO going.

What about www.metronet.co.uk. From £10 +vat - but you have to pay the BT
connection charge and provide your own modem or router.

Expensive connection charge £70 + VAT, plus you have to buy
the hardware, but only 5p per MB.

Check T+Cs for minimum use restrictions etc

Unfortunatly, £17.99 is too much, as is 2Gb/Month. Need to keep it
below the magical £15 a month figure, including any setup fees.
Hardware is no bid deal, I know plenty of people with crappy USB
broadband modems gathering dust (after realising that the router is the
only proper solution).

I have a feeling those are mutually exclusive requirements...

Ahh well, she will wait until it does drop below those prices...
£15/Month all-in was the alsolute tops.

I think Pipex were 14.99 but it went up to 15.99 recently.

Still compares very favourably to extended use dialup costs. True it's not
ideal if your Mum is planning on hitting the binaries heavily but I don't
think too many Mum's do

NTL 300k? It's £17.99 a month, if you say you seen 'free installation' in
the local paper or whatever, then you get free installation as well. Call
ntl to check coverage however.

there is a connection fee of £29.99p though... I highly recomend them....

How about going with the PlusNet £14.99 deal and you treat your mother to
the connection fee. I'm sure she deserves it.

Lixxus.co.uk appears to be best choice for low users, no charge if you don't
use it (holidays), 100Mb £5 p.m. , 200Mb £10.
But the connection fee is £82.25.

Martin
