You do relaise that the Sky firmware was created by Netgear...and loses
almost no capabilities over the standard one?
But the answe is yes! ... it can be done.

A&A always seem to have a free loan router offer running -- comes

Orange provide a box with two ethernet sockets, a VOIP phone socket

bluetooth terminal in the box too.
I don't know about the Sky router, but I'd be surprised if it isn't
locked to their own service.

AOL does but I'd rather pay for my own than be locked into a contract for 12
months.

Yes.
More than 1% of ISPs by my reckoning.
If you're daft enought to just want the cheapest then you'll have to settle for
being treated the way you would appear to be asking to deserve won't you ?

you can flash your sky router back to the original netgear firmware, giving
more options and, i believe, better stability and reliability. Be sure to
understand all the instructions , and download all necessary files, before
attempting the steps below! i can verify that it all works perfectly, but
not for the non-technical to attempt (though original firmware on the cd
that came from sky if if does all go PT.

good luck, please don't hold me accountable if anything goes wrong. i am NOT
a sky user, but a netgear router/modem on ebay for £8!! could not leave that
alone. now usins sky branded router on pipex, moving to vivacity next week
(faster, cheaper, no traffic shaping).
