dependent on your own line. Also, Eclipse seem to have relented and are
allowing Evo users to access usenet no matter what their package.

Whether that remains is up to them but for now Evo users on the lower
rate packages are able to use Giganews-provided usenet.

Flex appears to be staying for existing users. They have repeatedly said
that they will keep it as a legacy product, and when Connect changed to
Flex they didn't force anyone to regrade. Most did regrade to Flex
because it was better value.

other options available, even for binaries

I'm finding it fine - but mine is a light evening load and I use the
net a lot more the rest of the day. Anyway, when *contention* is
the method used to limit user traffic, how the hell do you think
they can specify hard figures - anything reported now will not
be guaranteed in 6 months (fortunately the malcontents have
already f***ed off, from the look of the AG forum with a few
people moaning about slow speeds!)

You need to define *precisely* what *you* consider to be reasonable in
any future posting (saw your download figures in this post, but you can
see how different people have different expectations/definitions).

Hi,

Just be aware that f2s does not carry binary newsgroups.

I get that for 14.99/month (well, 20 GB peak hours, "fair use" the rest of
the time). Only thing which is missing is a traffic stats page, but I'd
hope that Eclipse will add that in due course. It seems pretty daft to
this customer that there's no way to monitor my traffic, but a jump from
14.99 to 18.99 and 30 GB in peak hours still won't break my bank).

You'll perhaps have seen Justin's comment about no news service...

For text only, see Claranet, at 9.99/year (offering both news access and
mail) while others recommend NIN (news.individual.net) which is cheaper.

For binaries, one can get blocks of data from Astraweb, or pay monthly,
and plenty of companies have previously been listed, but prices start
at about US$ 2.50/month for 5 GB of traffic/month, up to $15 for an
unlimited level of download (limited more by your UK ISP, I guess).

I've used one at $6/month for up to 2 GB/*day* so I know there is
cheap access to binary groups if wanted.

I'm finding it a bit of PITA, after having decent daily stats from
Metronet. We've got usually 3 computers connected and monitoring the
usage at my end is a faff as the freeware net monitoring tools at least
only seem to monitor the computer they are installed on (unless you
route the network traffic through them) so collating the data is a
faff, and then that probably includes internal network traffic as well.

I emailed tech support at eclipse and they said there were no plans at
the moment to introduce stats, I don't really find an email when I
approach my limit sufficient and it may be enough to get me to move
elsewhere

Though I still mostly use NIN as I've been using it for years.

What account are you using? Unless you are already on Evo 4, I'd

Really, so what news service does F2S offer?

Evo 2

It's not just about hitting the limit though, it maybe a case of being
well below the limit, in which case I might be better off with different
package. If I could see what was downloaded off peak and in peak hours,
that could also make a difference. ISTM that if an ISP is goign to be
offering products that have download limits etc. then they should have
the tools for users to monitor that usage.

If Eclipse don't see it that way, fine, I'm capable of taking my
business elsewhere if I so decide.
