Managed connections
Posted by David G on November 20th, 2004

I recently signed up with an ISP and they were going to do a managed
connection on my ISDN line. After 10 weeks of being messed around I
canceled it got a refund. But in the run up to the end I was getting my
main number ceased and nothing else happened. I understood that the
change to POTS and removal of the highway box should all be done at the
same time with say a maximum downtime of 1 hour. Is this correct?

I have now signed up with PlusNet so hope they can manage it better.

a managed *conversion* involves the BT engineer removing the highway

longer if it doesn't work first time.

I'm not clear from the question if you are still have a managed
conversion booked, if not the Highway to POTS conversion wil be one
even and the ADSL enabled later.

Thanks

The original request was with V21 which I canceled after 10 weeks of
being messed around. I have now applied for a new one (managed) with PN.

The reason for asking is that I kept getting my main number ceased (3
times) and nothing else ever happening, and this is not what I had
expected. You have confirmed what I thought should happen.
Hopefully PlusNet are more capable - we shall see.
Currently the main number is still showing as ceased although it is
working. Will have to wait 'til Monday to sort that.
