Since today I am on a 8mbit connection. The speed will 'settle down' I'm
told in 5 - 10 days. Why is this ? Does it mean my speed will go up or down
? I am getting just under 600kb/s at the moment so about a 5/6mbit
connection...but I get the odd data drop out, is this normal ? It's just
happend again when I tried to post this :-(

Downloads are quote variable also, jumping about up and down etc, this is
also to be expected for the first week or so ?

Upload speed of 48kb/s is a surprise I had thought upload speed would be the
same as before of 30kb/s. Is this likely to change ?

Max is a dynamic product. The jumping about is a process where the
servers at BT's side are setting the data rate for your line. It's a
continuous process but the first few days in particular are important.

It's designed to pump the maximum stable rate of data down to you, and
is totally dependent on your physical connection to the exchange. From
the exchange, contention then applies.

The drop outs should get less as it stabilises, and the upload speed is
not affected. The higher rate is more or less static for most users.
