- Moving BT line and broadband service at the same time
- Posted by divoch on February 20th, 2006
My son will be moving and he will have his BT line transferred to the new
address. He is not sure what he will need to do to move the broadband
service at the same time? The broadband service is not provided by BT. I
presume that is possible, unlike in case of a NTL customer like myself?

It will depend entirely on which ISP he is with, as some will & some
won't...
The best thing for him to do is get in contact with his ISP _NOW_.

The technical term for the type of move is called a 'simultaneous
provision'. There are OFCOM guidelines, but most ISPs are a bit
cautious of doing it as it requires manual interventions between the
ISP and BT Wholesale at every stage.
I hope that it becomes a common, simple practice in time.

they normally offer instead? For example a short break in service may be
acceptable.
