Net4nowt ISP prices wrong. What is the point?
Posted by Tiny Tim on September 22nd, 2003

Whenever I've looked at the listed prices for broadband ISPs I've often
found wrong prices to the extent that the service is worthless. Does anyone
know how N4N get their information?

Example - Pipex Extreme Solo 512 is listed with a first year cost of £340.
Why? The monthly is £23.44 with free connection if you stay with them for a
year and you can add a modem for £17.50 or so. The total for one year is
just under £300.

Similarly, PlusNet Easy Start is listed at £27.99 per month but this price
dropped to £24.99 a couple of weeks ago or more.

Virgin is listed correctly at £24.99 per month (with free connection) but
the first year total is listed at £340. So that indicates a modem/filters
adds £40. Virgin has jus dropped the modem price to £25 from £50 so where
did the £40 come from on the N4N website.

Is there any point to this ISP listing?

Is there a more accurate broadband price comparison site?

Thanks,
Tim.

All sites that contain price listings have seen complaints about
inaccuracies over the past few weeks. This is one reason why UK-Bug
has yet to launch this provision.

A system is in the pipeline to provide this data - but will not be
available for some time to come (weeks though, not months or years )

We have updated this now - In fact, Net4Nowt provide an interface for
ISPs to maintain their own price lists, so it's us you should be
slapping when things are wrong, not them!
