- Netgear DG834 VPN and firewalls (Post Attempt 3)
- Posted by Let me Think on October 8th, 2005
If you have two dg834 in a gateway to gateway vpn configuration is it
possible to allow any one who has a vpn connection to destination router to
have their traffic proxied on using the routers LAN ip address . This would
allow internal firewall rules on the pcs on the destination network to be
set to allow all connections from the routers address. Security would be
maintained by the limitations of ports on the pc firewalls and also the fact
they the two routers have authenticated a vpn connection.
Another alternative is how I can have two sets of firewall rules on the
dg834, one for VPN traffic and the other for non vpn traffic?
Thanks

Let me Think brought next idea :
I'm not sure whether there is any other way, but one way you could
certainly do this is to use the save and restore (Backup Settings)
feature.
Save one set and call 'normal.cfg', adjust your settings and save it as
'vpn.cfg'. Then restore which ever you need at the time.
