I must admit that I'm curious too as to how a faster wireless adaptor (54 or
108) can have a greater range than an 11 Mbps one, given that they all use
the same 2.4 GHz frequency band and are all (I think) limited to the same
maximum power.

Do these Buffalo devices repeat from any router and do they repeat a
WPA-encrypted signal. Whenever I've looked at repeaters they've said "will
only repeat from a router of the same manufacturer as the repeater" and
they've only supported WEP and not WPA networks.

If they work with any router and if they support WPA, then I'm very
interested in them. What's a typical model number and where can they be
bought from?

Some of my customers live in very old houses with humungous internal walls
or huge obstructions like metal fireplaces, so the only solutions are either
range extenders or homeplug mains wiring devices.
