Netgear DG834G - Firmware v1.04.04
Posted by M on June 15th, 2004

This seems to be stable, much better than v1.04.01...which caused me some
grief (WLAN dropping out, router not responding).

Here's the link... http://www.farina1.com/dg834/

Usual warning applies with Beta firmware (especially Netgear's)...so try at
your own risk.

I am currently using v1.04 - any word as to what is different between
that and v1.04.04? I am presuming it is just bug fixes rather than
anything new being added.

There was no information regarding features or bug fixes.
It's been running 24hrs and the WLAN hasn't hung yet....

I am currently on 1.04.01 and my WLAN never hangs (unlike the DLINK AP it
replaced).

I had the same problems with 1.04.01 and had to reboot almost every
morning.

I've had 1.04.04 installed for about 2 to 3 weeks .

System up time is now at over 367 hours......

Sounds good, must try it, I keep getting WLAN dropouts. One question,
though - where does this f/w come from, since its not on the netgear
support site (not last time I looked)? Is it beta? Hacked?

This quote from the original post....

.....appears to indicate that it is a beta. There is a no mention of
it on the Netgear site, as you say, although I assume that once it has
past the beta stage, assuming there are no major technical hicups,
should then appear on the Netgear site - possibly as 1.05 if there are
any significant revisions.

Mine on 1.04.01 did the same, message sent to their support via the
web site said to reset the box. I saved the config, reset, reloaded
the config and it's been well ever since. Shame that such problems
occur without a murmur.

Yes, apparently it is Beta. If you do a Google search (of newsgroups)
you should come across various forums which is where I saw the link to
download it.
