Just installed a Netgear DG834G wireless modem/router with CAT 5 only
and everything appears to be working fine.

However, I've noticed two (what I think are) rather odd behaviours on
my PC.

1. With Zonealarm unlocked there is constant activity on both the red
and green icon bars in my system tray.

2. When I engage the Zonealarm internet lock the upstream light on my
Windows Internet Connection icon (in the system tray) stays lit all
the time - as if data is being uploaded to 'somewhere'.

I also have NTL and can swich connections quickly to compare. But the
behaviours described above do not happen with NTL (using different
equipment naturally). So, I am wondering if there's something odd
about the DG834G, the way I've set it up, or my ISP Freedom 2 Surf.

Alternatively, is what I'm seeing merely a quirk of ADSL, as opposed
to cable internet?
