Indeed - if they hadn`t introduced a charging system I was going to ask
them how I could make a donation anyway

The phone calls! If the total cost of phone plus BB access from NTL is more
than AOL plus BT Together there is no point in me changing over. NTL's phone
service appears to be aimed those who make lots of overseas or peak rate
calls for which I have no use at all. Nor do I have any use for cable TV.

I would consider paying them a subscription if they dropped their ban on
binaries, partially at least.

It's the ban on binaries that makes it worth using.

But that would push up the cost, substantially.

1) ntl publish a phone price list - it's difficult to find and is a pdf,
but it's on their website:
http://www.ntlhome.com/ntl_telephone...elcotariff.pdf
I had to find this using "filetype
df site:ntlhome.com" on google. It
includes their tv, cable modem and inclusive calls pricing.
2) you can buy ntl's cable modem service without tv/phone, eg cmodem/phone
or cmodem standalone. If you want tv, then you get the phone as well
"free" but it costs about as much as BT line + Sky.
