I am looking at connecting to my small office network from home using VPN
over ADSL.
A friend of a friend (FOAF) advised me to go to Nildram (DSLPro 500) for the
ADSL at both ends with a Zywall 643 router and Zywall 10 firewall (again at
both ends).
It seems that the 643 might now have been replaced by bigger, better,
faster, cheaper(!), options but I'm not sure which is best and FOAF isn't
available for a few weeks. :-(
For the home end, I'd really like a wireless router as it would look a lot
better. As FOAF has suggested using Zyxel kit throughout, can anybody offer
opinions on the above and suggest an alternative to the 643, both for the
office end, (wired) and my home end (preferably wireless)?
Thanks very much.

For a very similar application, just over a year ago, I looked at what
was around and decided to use Nildram as the ISP and a pair of Draytek
Vigor 2600's at each of the two offices whose small LANs were to be
VPNed together.
The two main attractions of the Vigor router I was considering were that
it included the ADSL modem, so there weren't two separate bits of kit to
worry about, and secondly that the Vigor does the VPNing itself, with
useful info on the Draytek site about how to set it up.
For wireless use one simply uses the Vigor 2600We variant of the
Vigor 2600 at the end where you want wireless.
I can't comment on the Vigor 2600We, as I haven't used one. The pair of
Vigor 2600's purchased for the job I specified have performed flawlessly
for over a year - but, of course, 2 isn't a very significant sample. I
was very happy with Nildram for basic ISP ADSL access too.
