- Noise on Orange livebox Help
- Posted by JohnP on September 4th, 2007
I have a load of noise on my land line when the livebox is connected. Have
tried all the various test like new filters, new phone etc. Even had BT
out who traced the problem to the livebox itself and charged £90 for the
privilige
Surprise suprise, Orange don't want to know.
The livebox generates lots of hissing noise on the voice side of the line,
making it difficult to hear a conversation. If you remove the live box then
the problem goes away and the line is silent.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance and regards.

How certain are you that you have correctly connected up these fiters?
Have you tried plugging only the livebox, a phone and a filter into
the test socket on the master socket?

Asking Orange to replace the faulty livebox might be a good starting point

Hi,
It would seem that you have a faulty livebox or they are just badly designed
and cause such issues.
Obtain another make and model of router and test that on your line, if you
do not get the same symptoms then the cause has been correctly identified.
If faulty then I would return it to Orange and insist on a replacement. If
they refuse then you need to seek legal advise on your position.
Contact the Tranding Stadards department in the authority which covers
Rotherham as this is where Orange appears to be based. They may be able to
help.
Keep details of all calls, letters you send and expenses incurred so you can
bill Orange later.
If the persist in being unhelpful then you might be able to claim that they
are in breach of there obligations under your contract with them and move to
a more competant ISP.

Did BT provide any documentary evidence?
As you don't own the livebox, you hire it from Orange, it's down to them
to sort it. A replacement livebox would seem the obvious solution.
