- NTL broadband - loses connection and announces "no NIC/ethernet adapter detected"
- Posted by on September 27th, 2003
any suggestions gladly accepted
it isn't *my* problem...
a colleague has just installed NTL broadband,
and claims to be having nothing but trouble
he says the connection "works" for about 10 minutes...
then disconnects... and "CorrectConnect" announces:
"no NIC/ethernet adapter detected"
this is on Win XP Home
no other Internet apps are installed
for example - no p2p nor IM systems

It might be worth picking up another cheap network card and trying that,
should cost ~£10 at most

I know, but given the circumstances, it`s only a couple of quid
difference picking one up locally when you factor time and postage into
the equation...
That reminds me - I need to pick up a spare myself :-}

Remove ntl's connection software, set the network card to automatically get
IP address and DNS servers, and reboot PC and cable modem. Should be rock
solid after that. You don't need ntl's software anyway...
