Does anyone know when NTL:Telewest are planning to upgrade from analogy to
digital in the SL6/SL1 postcode areas?

Thanks...

I tend to agree that Sales have no idea as to upgrades etc but have
posted your question in one of the Telewest support groups (Feedback)to
see if any response is forthcoming.

In case they ask what area is SL6/SL1?

Sorry, we do not have that information. Once they start in your area they
will mail all customers with the details

A guy who normally knows whats going on is

Alex Brown
blueyonder Product Manager
Consumer Service Excellence, Telewest Broadband

So if you want to try and get it from the horses mouth you could try
tracking him down, but I suspect you will get nothing from Sales or the
front desk.

Cheers

lol, i hope you are jokeing, most dont have a clue

i would try a site like ntlhell, it bad when your customers need to band
together to offer support because the tech and customer services arnt up
to it. that said the general dissarray means you can get some cracking
deals from the retentions team and once the technology is setup its pretty
stable.

Thanks for the recommendation, cheque's in the post <grin> :-)

On this one the comments from Dave L in the BY groups and the other
posters are accurate - the sales guys will know of any such news long
before I do as this isn't something that I'm that close to.

I'll forgo the cheque - how about a free upgrade from 4Meg to 10 Meg
instead?

Hi,

Re: "the general dissarray means you can get some cracking deals from
the retentions team"

I'm planning to cancel my NTL BB shortly, and would be interested to
hear about deals that have been offered in the past, before I commit to
a new ISP.

Be wary if you try and cancel NTL. NTL will offer you a deal to stay. It will be
too good to be true.
They are FAMOUS for offering deals like cutting the charges, but when the bill
comes in there is no difference.
You call them and ask why the special price you were offered is not on the bill
and they either:
(1) apologise and say it will appear as a credit on your next bill (it never
does and you go round in a loop)
(2) Totally deny any deal was ever agreed.

My advice if you decide to stay with them after being offered such an amazing
'deal is RECORD the call and GET THE NAME AND LOCATION of who agreed the
deal.(Not that it will help you much anyway) Remember TalkTalk too offer a good
deal - free broadband forever, but you will be pushed to find a soul here who
will tell you it's a good deal.

Good luck.

Any reasons you wish to leave NTL out of curiosity?

Pier,

Thanks for the warning!

Having cancelled Plusnet becasue the sevice is so unreliable NTL BB
looked like a good deal (2MB for £18), however, I didn't realise until
it was connected that the service was 2MB Down / 200k Up, which is too
slow for me as I use a VPN extensivly. So although the service is much
more reliable than PlusNet, I think bethere.co.uk is a better deal at
£14 for 10 to 24MB Down & 400k up, compared to NTL's 4MB Doown and
400k up for £25.

So, I guess a good deal would still not fix the upload speed unless I
was upgraded to the 4MB / 400k package for £18, but would they stick
to a deal......

Update:

It appears that NTL Retentions are doing some cracking deals, 10MB for
£10 etc...
