OFFTEL FSCKS UP UK BAD

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7003113.stm

UK broadband is so fscked up its straight lie for any
leading broadband company to claim they offer speed
for the price you pay.

OFFTEL SHOULD BE DISBANDED!!!

THEY ARE FSCKING USELESS.

THEY ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN DURING THEIR WATCH.

OFFTEL and ALL BROADBAND COMPANIES should be referred
to the EU for conning the public.

If you pay for something, then you should be given
the stated service. If it can't be delivered, then
the customer needs to be refunded.

The EU should fine UK's OFFTEL and
all its broadband companies a million euros per
day until they put in systems to refund all the money stolen from
customers through false broadband speeds.

They should be windfall tax on all those companies who
systematically failed to deliver claimed
speeds and the money refunded to all the punters.

Also in future, the delay between overcharging and refund
should be reduced to one month by firm consumer rights law
so that stolen bandwidth debts are rebated in full
the following month automatically to customers who have
had it stolen from them.

Speak for yourself mate. I'm on Be, synced at 15.4Mbps, get ~13.5Mbps IP

bitterly disappointing experience.

Must be your lucky day; Oftel no longer exists:

There's never been an "Offtel" in the UK

There isn't an Oftel in the UK, and hasn't been for years.

Here's a clue.
You live in a shithole area of London, and it's working against you.

If the Government don't see fit to invest in your education, why do you
think a Telco should bother investing in LLU kit in your local exchange in
the outside chance that some uneducated pondlife might take the service, and
more importantly, actually pay for it.

I'm not sure whether it was Griffin or BTW at fault, but I never got
anywhere near 8M throughput even though that's what I was synced at, NNTP

it's not worthwhile given that you'll only get 2Mbps? Bear in mind that a)
checkometers are just an educated guess and b) it's only a 3 month contract
so if it sucks, just bail.

I see your point and my mis-interpretation of the checkometer results.
Thank goodness you said what had to be said.

BT is fscking up distance measurements to lie to BE customers and the like
to fool punters into getting the wrong quotes.

I think I will place the order and be done with.
Sky + BE is going to cost me less than 94 quid a month
I pay for top whack services but don't get it from virginmedia
which according to analysts is going bust because 90%+
is interest payments. They can't afford outgoing bandwidth.
Plus I get a lot more channels.

Thank you OFFCOMM barstewards!! You have fscked up the ENTIRE broadband
delivery system of UK by allowing unethical mergers, allowing companies
to quote but not deliver false promises, false bandwidths and take
a lot money out of the broadband markets to service debts and reduced
UK to a third world country. Switching and risk taking is what real
punters have to do now to get their broadband. Thank you OFFCOMM
BARSTEWARDs. I hope it was worth it for you you little subversives you.

However, thank you Digby, you have made my day!
