- Orange Broadband down?
- Posted by Victor Delta on July 29th, 2007
My Orange broadband service was down for most of Saturday afternoon and
evening here in Poole. Was this an isolated problem or did others have the
same experience?

I set up a customer's LiveBox on Orange broadband at about 17:30 and it
connected fine. That was near Abingdon.

I can't wait to dump Orange dial-up once I get my new Zen broadband
next week. Since Orange bought Wanadoo, which was originally
Freeserve, the service has been effing crap. I wouldn't recommend
Orange to my worst enemy.

Thanks for replies. It's been off again today, just back now.
I phoned Orange tech support who started to tell me that there have been
some problems this weekend as they have been upgrading the system... and
then we got cut off!

'Upgrading the systems'? Lol when I used to work for their corporate
side that was their stock answer for when provisioning was fucked, CSS
or Merlin were broken etc. etc. It looks like the terminology has
spilled over to their broadband operation...

Before we were cut off, the chap I spoke to said it was planned work but
there had been a lot of calls from unhappy customers over the weekend...
If it was planned upgrade work, you'd think they might have tried to warn
customers in advance - they do have all our email addresses after all...

You were right. Hadn't come back this morning so I phoned Orange Tech
Support again.
The person I spoke to this time admitted that it was a server fault at their
end all the time.
Came back mid afternoon.
Upgrade indeed!

Our Orange Broadband was down since 17 Aug. We called them everyday,
not to mention it was difficult to talk to them as the line was not
clear & kept getting cut off as their broadband support team is based
in India; each time they would make us go through the same diagnostic
regime, and still problem not solved. They would then say 'the problem
is now being escalated to another dept'. We can't get someone to
follow-up on the problem, each time we call we start at square one!
how frustrating is that?
I took up Orange pay monthly mainly for this broadband package. Now
it seems they are not delivering the service they promised!
